1.1.1970 Ville Hämäläinen started as Norelco's Development Manager
Norelco has been using a Lean-type production model for years, aiming to streamline processes and minimize waste. "Quality and lean have always been at the core of Norelco. Quality is evident in Norelco's products, and lean, especially in production manufacturing processes. Now, we move forward again by comprehensively developing processes, examining processes as interconnected entities, rather than seeking to develop and optimize individual processes," Ville Hämäläinen explains. Through process development, the aim is to eliminate waste within processes and optimize them to operate in the best possible manner. "The goal of process development could be, for example, improving productivity, customer experience, or employee satisfaction. However, for each process, it's essential to consider what the development goal is and from which perspective the process is aimed to be improved. One must also consider, which process development tools best suit the situation. Because well working processes are also essential for digitalization, development also lays the groundwork for the adoption of new technologies," Ville summarizes.
Expertise and experience from various industries Previously, Ville has worked in the manufacturing industry as a quality specialist and process development consultant. "As a quality specialist, the focus was particularly on group quality management in collaboration with quality managers from various factories. The job provided me insight into quality management in a large corporation and comprehensive quality development at the group level," he explains. Subsequently, Ville transitioned to a process development consultant, where he became acquainted with processes across different industries and different process development methods. Through consulting work, he became familiar with the most common challenges in processes and various solution models. Altogether, Ville has been working on process and quality development for nearly five years. Processes evolve through collaboration "Process development is ongoing work that no one can do alone; all process development happens with the people involved in the process. The starting point for development is always understanding the current situation by gathering information from customers, employees, documentation, data, etc. about process, and analyzing it," Ville says. "This is the first step from which I start examining the situation at Norelco as well. Once the current situation of each process has been clarified, we can then proceed to develop processes together with the people working in them," he emphasizes. Ville Hämäläinen works at Norelco's Savonlinna office and partially remotely. You can reach him at +358 50 4146 203 or via email at ville.hamalainen@norelco.fi
