Norelco is a reliable partner in Tampere’s tram project

NRC Group Finland is the largest provider of rail infrastructure construction and maintenance services in Finland and a member of the Tramway Alliance that is building the Tampere tramway system. Norelco is a major co-operation partner in this long-term project. The technical systems, such as the overhead lines, turnout control and traffic lights, are under the responsibility of NRC Group.

“At different phases of the project, we have ordered turnout heating switchboards, switchboards for stops, and feeder and return current cabinets,” says NRC Group’s Project Manager Tero Heino, who is in charge of the technical systems construction at Tramway Alliance.

Heino has been working on the immense project for the past five to six years. Phase two of the project is due for completion by the end of 2024, and co-operation with Norelco will continue.

The co-operation between NRC Group and Norelco has lasted some ten years now. NRC has ordered LV switchboard-related products tailored to its needs.

“Long-term co-operation is built on competitive prices and quality that meets our expectations. Norelco has met these requirements,” says Heino.

The journey has not been without its challenges, but all problems, large and small alike, have been tackled together. If the switchboards have had any faults or broken components, the situation has been rectified and the components have been replaced.

Heino praises especially the smooth dialogue with Norelco.

“We have always come up with the best solutions for our current needs by talking it through.”

Heino says that sometimes he contacts Norelco several times a week during the product procurement and manufacturing phase.

“It is pleasant working with Norelco since their people are nice and friendly and approachable. Norelco is a reliable partner. They walk the talk,” Heino adds.
