Simo Pylkkänen Appointed as Chief Operating Officer of Norelco Oy

Simo Pylkkänen, M.Sc. (Tech.), has been appointed as the Chief Operating Officer of Norelco, effective from August 19, 2024. In addition to operative activities, he is responsible for the progress of the company's investments and development projects in cooperation with Norelco's other management team.

COO Simo Pylkkänen has extensive experience in production and factory environments. In about 18 years, his career at Andritz Savonlinna Works took him from Quality Engineer to the role of Managing Director, which he held for more than five years. His career path says a lot about his approach to work. 

"Goal-oriented and a team worker, that describes me well. I have a strong will to develop the company's and its employees' opportunities for success. During discussions about my joining Norelco, it was encouraging to see that our values align well," Simo explains. 

“I wanted to join the local growth company.” 

As COO, Simo Pylkkänen is responsible for developing Norelco’s order-delivery chain as well as overseeing financial monitoring and continuous improvement. 

The development tasks are focused on enabling the company's growth together with the colleagues in the management team and with the Norelco’s staff. The company is building a strong connection between its growth vision and the development projects and investments necessary for its realization. 

"Development projects are concretized from vision to action. We refine our processes to ensure that the desired progress is achieved. For example, the certification of quality, occupational safety, and environmental management systems are taken very seriously. In these areas, we expect significant progress by the end of the year," Simo explains and continues:

"Certified management systems will provide us with more opportunities: our operations will become more efficient, and quality will improve. Additionally, I believe that certification will open up new discussions with potential customer groups." 

Simo Pylkkänen lives in Kerimäki, which is some 30 minutes’ drive from Savonlinna. He speaks warmly about his home area. He values the development and growth ambitions of a local, family-owned company like Norelco, which serves customers nationwide.
